 FAQs

I’m asked similar questions about permanent makeup from time-to-time so you may find this page useful. If you have any qs. that are not answered, do get in touch.

Q. Are permanent cosmetics a form of tattooing?

A. Permanent cosmetic enhancement - also known as semi permanent makeup, micro-pigmentation and makeup tattoo - is an advanced form of tattooing. However I do not infuse the pigment as deeply as in traditional tattooing practices. Therefore the enhancement does not have the permanency of a conventional tattoo.

The pigments I use replicate the colour choices available with conventional cosmetics enabling me to achieve subtle, translucent results.

Q. Is the procedure safe?

A. I follow a code of practice that ensures a safe treatment – to the letter.

I only work with hypoallergenic pigments that meet European medical standards and perform an allergy test before the treatment commences.

I use only the highest quality sterile needles, which are disposed of immediately after each and every treatment.

Q. How long does the effect last?

A. Permanent cosmetic enhancement can last for many years dependent on many variables. Softer, neutral enhancements tend to fade faster normally requiring a colour boost every 12 months to maintain their fresh appearance.

Q. Does it hurt?

A. I use effective numbing agents to minimize discomfort. The discomfort felt is similar to tweezing eyebrows and is creates mild dicomfort.

Q. What will I look like immediately after my procedure?

A. The colour will appear a darker shade than the desired result for up to 1 week after treatment and mild redness and swelling may be apparent for up to 10 days.

Q. How can I make an appointment with Louise?

A. Contact me directly or get in touch via one of the salons in Didsbury, Cheadle, Alderley Edge, Nantwich, Flixton, Davenport or Chester.

Q.  What qualifications do you have?

A. I am fully qualified (with Nouveau Contour Group) and insured and have delivered over 200 permanent makeup treatments since qualifying - more than 400 hours of hands-on experience.

Q.  Who is permanent makeup suitable for?

A.  Virtually everybody – young and older, ladies and men. There are lots of benefits no matter who you are.

Q. What happens once I decide I want permanent makeup?

A. Prior to the permanent make-up treatment you will receive a comprehensive consultation during which you will have the opportunity to discuss the results you'd like to achieve and how permanent makeup can enhance your appearance.

If there is a specific look that you particularly like, it’s a good idea to bring some magazine pictures with you to help explain.

As an expert in the field of colour analysis and makeovers I’ll identify the micro-pigmentation shades that work with your hair, skin and eye colour. I will also analyse your facial shape and features to determine the most complementary look for your individual requirements.

Using conventional cosmetics I’ll also create your unique look visually so that you can approve the enhancement before the micro-pigmentation pigments are infused into your skin. This ensures accuracy and that the finished result is exactly right.

Q. When is the best time to have the treatment?

A. Due to the nature of the treatment, it’s best not to have the treatment close to any special occasions or work interviews etc.

Once the treatment had been completed, I’ll provide full aftercare and will provide information on ‘do's’ and ‘don'ts’.

Q. What equipment do you use?

A. I use well-maintained state-of-the-art equipment that is designed specifically for the job in hand.
